An Introduction to the Academy of Management and the OMT Division: Research, Publishing, and the Annual Meeting

Abstract

The presentation will consist of two main parts. The first part will focus on the Academy of Management (AOM) and its Organization and Management Theory (OMT) Division. The second part will address how to submit research to and participate in the AOM Annual Meeting.

The first part will provide an overview of the AOM’s history, with a particular focus on the OMT Division. It will introduce the division’s characteristics, the types of research it encompasses, and current trends in the OMT field. The presentation will also feature the speaker’s published and ongoing research projects, offering insights and inspiration for faculty members and students.

The second part will focus on the practical aspects of engaging with the AOM, including why researchers should consider submitting their work, how to prepare and submit a proposal, and how to participate in the Annual Meeting. If time permits, the speaker will also share advice and practical tips for researchers and students seeking to publish their work in leading journals in management and organization studies.
